For the adrenaline junkies in the group, this was heaven. We strapped on wakeboards and water skis, and the speedboat became a bull we tried to ride. For the novices, it was a day of spectacular wipeouts and mouthfuls of surprisingly fresh-tasting lake water. When an unexpected spring gale blew through on day four, forcing the crew to shelter-in-place inside a narrow cove for 18 hours, it wasn’t a ruinous delay.
