"The Dictator" is a 2012 political satire black comedy directed by Larry Charles, who previously directed Sacha Baron Cohen's mockumentaries "Borat" and "Brüno". The film is a departure from Cohen's previous improvisational style, featuring a linear script co-written by Cohen, Alec Berg, David Mandel, and Jeff Schaffer. It stars Cohen in the role of Admiral General Aladeen, the absolute ruler of the fictional North African country, Wadiya. The film opened with a sarcastic dedication "in loving memory" to the late North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il.
