Some older POS 80 printers require a special (PL2303 or CH340 chip). If your PC makes the “USB connect” sound but the printer doesn’t appear as a printer, install a CH340 driver first, then the POS driver. Now it will show up as “USB Serial Port” – that’s normal.
Search for a reputable driver repository or use the CD that came in the printer box.
Check if the driver is installed on the correct USB port. Replug the USB cable into a different port.
Installing the wrong driver can cause garbled text, paper jams, or the printer not responding at all. Always check the sticker on the bottom or back of the unit for the exact model number.
