This paper proposes a methodology for "Serial Number Forensics"—a systematic analysis of the PSVita serial string to determine manufacturing origin, hardware revision, and associated security firmware baselines. By correlating serial number prefixes with known manufacturing anomalies (such as OLED degradation in launch units vs. LCD variance in the PCH-2000 series), this study provides a framework for collectors, archivists, and security researchers to assess hardware viability without invasive teardown procedures.
