While these formats are perfect 1:1 copies of the original discs, they are incredibly inefficient for modern storage. A standard PS1 disc can hold up to 650 MB of data. Even if a game only uses 100 MB of actual data, the uncompressed .BIN file might still take up the full 650 MB because it fills the empty space with dummy data.
